“I'm leaving a life built around survival to create a refuge and find the peace I spent too long believing I had to earn.”
My name is Johnna Freeze. I've survived abuse, trafficking, homelessness, CPTSD and chronic illness. For years I lived in survival mode, but I've worked hard to build a growth mindset. Now I'm moving from Ohio to Colorado to pursue my dream of owning RV and tiny -home communities - places where people can breathe, feel safe and reconnect. I don't need someone to do it for me. I need direction.

WhoTell us who you are.
Hi, my name is Shawna Freeze. I'm from the Columbus, Ohio area. I'm a photographer, musician, artist, wife, and big picture dreamer. I've lived through childhood abuse, sexual trauma, human trafficking, and homelessness. Now I deal with chronic illness. For a long time, survival was my mindset, but I've had to work hard to shift into a growth mindset and build a life around with purpose, creativity, and connection and peace. I'm married and want to build the next chapter with my wife. She's analytical, black and white, financially minded. I'm the visionary, creative one, so we balance each other out really well. Our goal is to move from Ohio to Colorado and eventually own and operate RV parks and tiny home communities. I'm not looking for someone to do it for me. I'm just ready to put in the work. I just want guidance on how to turn the vision into something real.
WhatWhat's the challenge you're facing right now?
Um I think my biggest challenge right now is figuring out how to turn a very clear vision into an actual plan. I know what we want to build. I know I know we want to move from Ohio to Colorado. Um I know I want to become an owner-operator of an RV or tiny home community and eventually growing that into multiple locations. Um I'm willing to put in the work. I research, save, learn, make connections, and take action. But sometimes I have so many ideas and direction that I don't know which move will actually get me closer to the goal. Um after spending so much of my life in survival mode, I'm learning how to build strategically instead of like just reaching for whatever comes next. I don't need somebody to rescue me. Um I uh or hand me the answers really even. I just need a roadmap, mentorship, and help learning where to focus my energy.
What changesWhat would financial freedom change for you?
Financial freedom would mean my family could stop building our life around survival and start building it around purpose, even though every day we try to do so. For so long, decisions have been based on what we can afford, what we have to sacrifice, and how much energy we have left to keep everything moving. My wife and I dream about moving west, finding land, creating something meaningful together, a home, a refuge, and eventually a tiny home RV community centered around connection, creativity, nature, and belonging. It would give us more time for our family, our freedom to create, travel, build, and help others. Help others is really something that means a lot to me. I don't dream about being rich just to have more. I dream about having enough freedom that survival is no longer the architect of my life. I want peace and to finally have a permanent address.
Why nowWhy are you ready to change your situation?
I'm ready because I don't want to spend the rest of my life just surviving things. Um I've already done a lot of the internal work, um facing my past, like learning from my patterns has been a big one. Setting boundaries, also another big one. And figuring out who I I am out outside of what has happened to me. Um and now I'm doing the practical work. Um my wife and I are saving, planning our move out west, um and I am oh researching land, building our businesses. Um I mean uh being really in intentional about our time and where our money goes. Um I'm willing to work hard. I'm willing to start over. I'm willing to be uncomfortable. Really good at that. Um for a while, if it means building something better on the other side.
The askWhy should Pace come meet you?
Pace, I think you should really come meet me because the story is not just about a tiny home. It's about what happens when someone who has spent their whole life surviving decides to build something on purpose. I've lived through things that could have made me shut down completely, but instead I kept creating, kept dreaming, kept loving my family, kept imagining a life that feels safe, peaceful, and free. Now my wife and I are actually trying to build that life. And I think that's what could make this zero to hero story, not because everything is figured out, but because it isn't. You'd be meeting us right in the middle of becoming, really. And maybe people watching would see that you don't have to have the whole road mapped out to finally choose a new direction. And I'm excited.
In their own words
A little more about Johnna
I am a creative, my wife and I are big picture dreamers. We both have ambition for days. I am a photographer, musician, artist and tend to see the possibility everywhere. I'm married. My wife and I are very different in ways that balance each other really well. She's analytical, practical and financially minded, and thinks in systems. I'm the visionary who imagines what something could become. We want to build this next chapter together. As a family, we love experiences more than things. We love traveling, road trips, exploring new places, building, being outside, mountains, hiking, sports, music, art, and finding random adventures. We love laughing, creating, and trying new things. Our values are really important to us. We value family, connection, authenticity, inclusion, kindness, creativity, hard work, growth, and treating people like they matter. Our goal is to relocate form Ohio to Colorado and eventually own and operate our 1st rv-tiny-home community, ideally around El Paso or Teller County. Long Term, we'd love to grown into multiple unique parks across the country.
